Curly hair is one of the most beautiful things that a woman can be born with.
That’s Me in 1993 😀
If you have curls, no matter now small or big, or even just subtle waves, you will never need to do anything over the top to make them look special, because they already do.
Let them lose and you already have the perfect hair for that date or family dinner or the party you are getting ready for.
But wait, No!
You’ll probably end up frying them with a straightener, or trying to tame them with a hairbrush because they look more like unorganized wires in all sorts of directions and not those beautiful curly locks in Taylor Swift’s country music videos.
But if managed well, you can get rid of frizz and proudly rock your locks just like they deserve.
So here are some things you can do to Knock Out Frizz:
Use Hair Oil
Oil your hair before you shampoo them.
It really makes a difference. Oil soothes the hair, reduces frizz, makes it softer and heals it from the damage done to it from years of straightening and brushing.
Coconut oil is most popular, olive and almond oil are great too. But if you cant decide, mixtures of a wide variety of hair oils are also available in the market.
Choose the right Shampoo and Conditioner
The image made it pretty clear.
Do not get a dog shampoo for yourself the way you wouldn’t use your own shampoo on your dog. That’s all.
Okay, if you are still reading this, you probably have a sense of humor too 🙂
Choose a shampoo that is not a cocktail of strong chemicals like most anti dandruff shampoos.
If you have access to a shampoo which is exclusively for women with curly hair, buy it. Otherwise use something that is gentle on your hair.
If you have dandruff problems, you might want to read my previous article about getting rid of it without using strong shampoos. I will mention the link to that post at the end of this one.
Brush Your Hair While It Is Still Wet
So after you have oiled, washed and conditioned your hair, it will be the right time to use your hairbrush as they are super smooth by now.
This will reduce hair fall and frizz too.
Using hairbrush on dry, curly hair damages them. Avoid that as much as you can. If you don’t have an option to shampoo at a particular moment, use a serum and de tangle them with your fingers or a comb with large teeth and wide gaps.
Let Them Dry Naturally
Do not use heat on your hair. Let them dry naturally. You wont end up with frizzy hair one you are done.
Heat does a lot of damage to your curly/wavy hair which are already high maintainance and demanding btw.
Get A Serum for Curly Hair
This one is optional. I haven’t used a serum everytime i shampooed my hair and still got rid of frizz.
But using a curly hair serum while the hair is still wet adds another level of definition to your hair. The only brand that I have used is Bblunt and found it to work pretty well.
I hope this article helped anybody who needed it. Do write in the comments if you know of something else that is useful too 🙂
